Rehoming our Boxer

Boxer Puppies for sale in St Paul, MN 55124, USA. price: $250Hello, our family needs to re-home our 3 year old male boxer dog. We adopted our dog from an underprivileged family at 7months and he had no formal training and was not socialized with other dogs at this point. He is neutered. We would like to fully disclose the good and bad behaviors that have made this decision so hard for our family. Good Traits: Our dog has graduated from professional dog training courses. He has been trained using an E-Collar. And we believe he would be even more successful with board & train for socialization. He knows many tricks and multiple commands. Our dog is good with our two children, ages 6 and 8 and many neighborhood children. He prefers being around people, rather than being left alone due to anxiety. He likes to snuggle, sleeps right at your feet if you'll let him, naps in the sunshine, keeps us active, is a good listener to commands (in the absence of other dogs) and loves positive attention from all of his tricks! He is house trained by way of bell on a doorhandle, and only sits on furniture if it is allowed. He loves to play ball and run around you in circles to try to get you to chase him. He has a great personality and loves our family very much. He is a very active dog and often my husband will take him on a 5-6 mile bike ride in the morning to start his (and the dog's) day more calmly. Traits that lead us to rehoming: Our dog has separation anxiety so he is kenneled when we are away and takes medication to help his anxiety. We purchased him a special high anxiety crate to help. We do not leave him for long periods of time because of this. We have a sonic no-bark machine that helps so that he does not bark the whole while we are away (neighbors have indicated that he sometimes does this.) The sonic no-bark has been helpful in stopping this habit. Our dog has prey-drive, so loves chasing anything moving fast--especially things with wheels, so must be watched closely. The largest reason we need to rehome is that our dog is NOT GOOD WITH OTHER DOGS or animals. We have tried to work on his dog aggression with a trainer and as a family since we adopted him at 7 months. We live in a suburb neighborhood with many dogs. He has bitten other dogs without being taunted, so that is why we need to re-home him. We can not take the chance that our children or neighborhood children would get in between our dog and another dog when aggressive behavior presents itself. We have him leashed and we are present when we are outdoors in our neighborhood. He has slipped out of open doors (with kids in and out) and that is how these previous bite accidents have happened. Ideal Re-Homing: He needs a strong Alpha personality with positive reinforcement as this is what he responds best to. He is an awesome dog and we really tried our hardest to make it work for nearly 3 years. This is a very hard and emotional decision for our family. He needs a less dog populated neighborhood and an owner that perhaps works out of the home so they would be together often and kenneled less often. Our dog is active, so an active owner would be beneficial for him. An owner that has some background on the boxer breed would be super. We want to re-home our dog into a home that has no other pets, so as to avoid putting him in situations of dog aggression. We will screen all interested people thoroughly. We are just asking a re-homing fee and a good home. Please contact via email.View Detail
