What is FIV?
FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is a viral infection that affects cats, compromising their immune system and making them more susceptible to other infections and diseases.
How can I ensure that I am purchasing a healthy kitten from a breeder?
Always ask for health testing documents from the breeder. Make sure to get your kitten checked by a veterinarian shortly after purchase to confirm their health status, especially for viruses like FIV.
Why is it important to check for FIV in kittens?
Kittens can often test negative for FIV but may develop the virus as they reach adulthood. It's crucial to have them tested as the virus is more apparent in adult cats.
