Chico(boy) and Misty(girl) are our resident serval cats and true to their nature they are very shy and prefers nocturnal activities. Before they came to live with us, they were kept in a very small enclosure, on a lion breeder's far. Chico and Misty and have a very tough life.. there were constantly being chased from hsi hiding spots for people to view.
At our home here Chico and Misty are allowed to make theirselfs visible on their own terms, usually at feeding during night time, and hiding when he doesn't feel like seeing strangers. they are beautiful cats and if patient they will reward you with a peek of their stunning spotted coat. The African serval is a small, slender cat with long legs, a lean body, and a small head. our Servals have an amazing pouncing and leaping ability; they can jump as high as 10 feet in to the air to catch birds and can pounce accurately on prey from 3-12 feet away. Note Servals are closer in size to our domestic cats than to its larger cousins, and therefore the serval cat is sadly increasingly being bred for exotic pet tastes - both purebred and hybrid. Make no mistake - our servals are no longer like wild animals, since we train them everyday and now they are suitable as house pets. Their dietary and activity needs can be met in a domestic environment.
