Listing Description

Red is a 23 year old, well socialized green-winged macaw. He is socialized with children, dogs, and small parrots. He would do best in a home that someone is home most of the time. He has been checked by his avian vet (Dr. Trippet out of West Hazleton Veterinary Hospital). He has never been sick in the last 10 years. He was with large and small dogs and smaller parrots for the last 10 years. He has a pretty big vocabulary. He says “Red”, “Good Boy”, “hello”, and “There is a guy over there”, among other words. He loves to be held. He prefers humans 10 and older but can be good with younger children, depending on the child. He likes both men and women. He loves to be with his people, watch tv, and share snacks. He is not clipped. He likes to be outside. He does not try to fly away, however if the wind is strong, he will hold out his wings. He asks to be picked up by holding up his foot. For the last 10 years he was used to spending time on top of his cage and going back and forth to his Java tree stand in front of large sliding glass doors looking out over a large back yard with plenty of wild life.
