Listing Description
Meet Astrid! She is an intact female St. Bernewfie. One of those new "designer breeds". She will be 1yr old on Dec 22nd. She was adopted by a family with 3 little kids, 2 cats and a male Newfoundland. This family intended for Astrid to be a pet, and possibly breed her when she was old enough. They have loved her dearly, but Mom has become a little overwhelmed with the amount of small bodies running around the house. We are really hoping to find Astrid a family to see she's loved and safe.
Astrid is a gentle giant, with a lot of filling out left to do. She won't be done growing for another 12-18 months. She's one of those that grew tall first and looks a little skinny until she fills out. She has a sweet, submissive personality and it doesn't take more than a firm voice to correct her. She is smart and is food driven so, treats work great for training. She can sit, lay down, shake, stay, come, and get down. She is crate trained, but hasn't used a crate in about 3 months. She is potty trained and rings a bell on the door to go outside.
Her only character flaws are her obsession with food and her height. She has been known to swipe sticks of butter or leftovers from the kitchen counter and table when you aren't looking. ;) She also loves people. A lot. Her favorite thing is to lay beside you with her head in your lap. Even when it's not convenient for the human. If you want a dog to love you back, she'll do a great job of it.
She is excellent with our children, our cats, and other dogs. She is patient with the kids, but her rump does occasionally knock over the toddler on accident. She's often just one of the excited kids in the group. She is best friends with the cats. Our cats wrestle her back. She is never mean or too aggressive. It's all play with her and them.
She recently had her first heat and did well. She won't be able to breed for a least a year yet due to her age and the growing she has left to do.
We are asking $600 for her, which is what we paid originally. If you don't intend to breed her, I'd be happy to get her fixed for you and would then only ask $350 for her. Our vet will do the surgery for a little over $300.
She is up to date on shots and gets Revolution monthly from April to Nov.
