We adopted two-year-old sweet Porter about three months ago. His owner was mentally ill and released him out his front door "to be free" in April 2022. He is such a honey and writing this post is devastating to our family, but with four children, another goldendoodle, three cats, and an incredibly busy life, we bit off more than we can chew with this guy. Porter is very sweet, submissive, house trained, and is great with children, other dogs, and cats. HOWEVER, he is basically a puppy in a two-year-old dog body. It's obvious he had very little training from his original owner. He needs an individual or family who can give him a lot of time and training. He also needs lots of exercise and a place to run. We've invested a lot in his training three weeks of a stay-and-train program with a complete step-by-step training program to be followed at home. He is able to follow basic commands -- sit, wait, off, come. The trainer is also willing to meet with the new owner for training tips, etc. We honestly just don't have the time and energy to devote to his training. We are hoping to find someone who does! Porter weighs about 56 pounds, is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all of his vaccines.
