Libby is a wonderful family pet. She is great with kids of all ages, though she is still learning when it comes to jumping and (very occasional) light nipping when playing (that’s how puppies play; she is in no way aggressive). She has more of a poodle look than Aussie; we had her groomed about 6 weeks ago and is already getting her curl back! She is approximately 25 pounds; I think maybe she will get to 35-40? Hard to tell. She is house trained as long as we give her lots of opportunity to go outside; she would do well with a doggy door. She stays in her crate when we leave (we have never left more than 4 hours) and doesn’t have accidents. She also sleeps in the crate at night and rarely goes to the bathroom in there; I’m pretty sure every time she has its been from getting into something outside she shouldn’t have (dead bird, cat poop etc). She is completely up to date on vaccinations but has not been spayed; vet recommended waiting until she is 9 months, and I see no reason not to wait if that is healthiest for the dog. I WILL NOT GIVE HER TO ANYONE WHO WILL NOT PROMISE TO SPAY HER. This is a family dog, not a breeder! I have three kids 4 and under with a fourth on the way. She is so smart, she needs to be actively trained. I thought I would be able to but just haven’t. I can see she is starting to listen less because of it and my stress over it all is definitely starting to affect her. She needs someone with more time to dedicate to this. This is seriously a wonderful dog and if my baby wasn’t due in 6 weeks this would be a different story. We are heartbroken over this decision but in the end it’s what is best for her and also for my sanity. The best of intentions aren’t always what we hope they will be when getting a dog. She needs a “pack”....she is just extremely social and wants to be around everyone all the time. She has been around kids of all ages and all kinds of visitors; she is never aggressive, just maybe too excited sometimes :) Again, she just needs to be trained. She plays with my sister-in-law’s dog all the time; they literally don’t stop wrestling the whole time they are together. Due to Parvo being so bad this spring, we were unable to take her to dog parks or other areas with lots of dogs so she is not socialized in that way. Her final vaccine against Parvo (the vet even recommended an extra one to be safe) fully kicked in just as this heat came back. There is no reason to think she would not do well in those situations once she is better trained to come when called. She comes with absolutely everything you could need. We are asking a rehoming fee to ensure a good home.
